A Before and After Tour: Round 1

Here are some before and after shots of the entry way, living room and dining rooms, the staircase, the upstairs hallway, and the guest bedroom. These were taken before we moved in.

The unpacking and getting settled in is going really well! It's funny, when you move from a 600 sq. foot one-bedroom apartment to a three bedroom house with a basement and a garage, you quickly realize you're in need of just a few more pieces of furniture. So, until we get those pieces of furniture (a dresser for the guest bedroom, an armoir to serve as a pantry in the kitchen, end tables for the living room, a cabinet to house the tv, etc) we are still living (and functioning!) out of boxes.

It has also been interesting, as we've gotten settled in, all the little things a family of two needs to function, but sort of go unnoticed until they aren't around. For example, matches, a shower curtain liner, a silverware container, and a small spot to keep house and car keys.

The latter has gotten me in the most trouble, as I have twice now found myself accidentally locked-out. The first time, I got back in by breaking a window we were planning to replace anyway, and the second time I just met Ken at work and snagged his key. Needless to say, I have given a few friends who live close by copies of the house key- hopefully future crises are now averted.

Today our first guest is staying with us- little Ms. S is here taking a nap while her mom does some errand running, and so far it's gone pretty well. Granted, she brought her own pack-and-play and has really no other requirements. However, we'll be having our first round of adult guests in August, and we are so excited to the P family!

More pictures of the kitchen, bathroom, half bath, and master bedroom to come!
