Penny Tile Flooring

The flooring in our bathroom was initially green sticky linoleum squares. After pulling up the green vinyl and layer of square tiles, the original bathroom flooring turned out to be... penny tiles!! If I could have picked anything to put in the bathroom floor it would have been penny tiles- the house continues to be a dream.

Here is a picture of the penny tile before pulling off the remaining adhesive from the square tiles. I also took a shot of the floor in the midst of pulling off the adhesives. Finally, here's a picture of the tiles as they are now, needing another round of adhesive remover, but overall looking better.

Tomorrow I'm going to try an acid wash, which should pull up all of the left over adhesive, but could potentially burn my skin. Hopefully the acid works on the adhesive and not on my hands.

Planning to wear gloves, long sleeves, and pants while acid-washing,

  1. Please don't lose your hands. I don't know how I could help you through that trial. :)

  2. I had never heard of penny tiles before you mentioned them on your blog--I love it that you know all of this cool stuff! It sounds like you and Ken found the perfect house for you!

Hope you're not too hot dealing with the acid wash in your gloves, long sleeves, and long pants today. Drink lots of water and try to stay cool!
